1.11. CRINES Seminar (Study on Ultra-High Burnup Fuel Research) Successfully Completed

The seminar was successfully completed on 11 March, 2011, at Tokyo Institute of Technology, in spite of occurrence of very big earthquake in Tohoku district. The number of the participants is fourteen.
The following four lectures were done in the seminar.

In the first lecture, the background and objectives of the study on ultra-high burnup fuel, and outline of the co-operative research program were introduced.
In the second lecture, the concept of ultra-high burnup fuel burning and selection of fuel and cladding materials were introduced.
In the third lecture, the results of ultra-high burnup metal fuel safety evaluation and its related problems were introduced.
In the fourth lecture, the results of ultra-high burnup nitride and oxide fuels safety evaluation and its related problems were introduced.
