is part of a series of biennial conferences previously organized in Bangkok
(2001), Hanoi (2003), and Yogyakarta (2005).
Thailand, Vietnum and Indonesia will introduce small- and middle-sized Light
Water Reactors (LWRs) in the futute, and some Japanese organizations such as
universities, utilities, research institute and reactor venders are
investigation conceptual works on future small-sized LWRs. The purpose these
meetngs is to promote cooperative works on future small-sized LWR development
among their countries by exchage of the related technical information to search
their ideal features of LWRs. The scope of the meeting includes the following
fields of application: small-sized LWR and related technology, innovative
nuclear technology for future nuclear energy system and social aspects on
nuclear application. The corresponding needs for advanced nuclear reactor system
will be addressed.

In succession to the INES-2 Satellite Symposium held on last December, the international symposium is held for cross-fertilization on the information of participatory decision-making process in the selection of final disposal site of radioactive wastes. We invite three speakers from France; one from promotion body and other two from local representatives. The process of making decisions in France should have been different from other countries including Japan. In the symposium, through short presentations and panel discussions, we try to focus on the mechanism and crucial keys that had really promoted the decisions.
From Japan, policy maker, citizen will also join the panel. It can foster discussions in Japan for disposal site selection for the high-level radioactive wastes in the near future.
